Why Fibre Channel & SAN Monitoring Training?
Nowadays no LAN administrator can allow himself to administer his LAN without basic protocol knowledge. The tools available for it are known and partly for free. Using a protocol analyzer is a standard in LAN and WAN enviroments. The protocol knowledge is the basis for the design and operation of networks.
In the SAN it should be the same. However, the reality looks different. The SAN cloud seems to be untransparent. No administrator is aware how the data are transported by the SAN or how config changes affect the protocol level. Basic know-how about the protocols used to provide security administrators in their daily work and strategic action in case of failure, and the ability to be critically questioned the glossy brochures of the manufacturers.
We are neither a classical training company nor a manufacturer-oriented system integrator. As an independent service provider we depend on the tools and know-how with which we ourselves can solve problems with end customers. Our knowledge is based on many years' practise in the protocol analysis of networks. If we are called, system integrator or manufacturer do not know how to solve a problem. Training: Fibre Channel Basics
The goal of the basic training is to provide the participants with a basic understanding of the architecture and processes of the Fibre Channel protocol. With this understanding, it is possible for him to understand and evaluate processes within the SAN and to avoid design mistakes and to analyze and evaluate anomalies.

Training: Fibre Channel Troubleshooting
The goal of the troubleshooting training is to enable the participants to recognize and correct faults in the SAN quickly. The focus here is the low-level debugging in the Fibre Channel protocol with a protocol analyzer. In the course of extensive lab sessions is individually addressed the issues and needs of the participants to deepen their understanding of protocol errors and the consequences associated with this in the fabric.

Workshop: SAN Performance Monitoring
The aim of the monitoring workshop is to develop rogether with the participants a meaningful operational monitoring of a SAN. Based on the technical principles which provide the components (switches, storage systems and virtualization) of the various manufacturers are available for proactive problem prevention concepts are presented. In addition, various approaches to the manufacturer or Open Source are compared in order to define an optimal implementation for its own SAN. Combined with an extensive presentation of the monitored metrics, participants learn how an effective performance monitoring will be built and operated.

Workshop: VM on FC Performance
This workshop is designed as an extension seminar. Virtual Machine communication mechanisms in Fibre Channel environments are considered and analyzed in detail by various LAB sessions. Among other statements from previous MEN@NET trainings to Queue Depth settings and effects of high latency in virtualized environments are assigned based on vendor-independent monitoring facility.

Workshop: NVMe Technology
Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVME) is an emerging relatively new memory access protocol, which was presented to a wider public in 2014 version 1.2 by the Working Group "NVM Express, Inc". A big goal is the easy access and distribution of storage space over a large number of devices and over long distances. Therefore, the expansion on NVMe over fabrics is a more than consistent step and entry into the classic SAN. Among the supporters of NVMe are now, according to their own data, about 100 industrial companies such as Cavium, Cisco, Dell EMC, Facebook, Intel and much more.
As part of this Training, the focus is on questions about the areas of application, effort & benefits, and classification and comparison to existing technologies. For a better understanding, the functionality is not only explained theoretically, but also practically demonstrated. Parallel operation with current SAN-relevant technologies is also shown.
